Origins

High in the Himalayan valleys, where crisp mountain air moves through the orchards and cool evenings settle beneath the surrounding peaks, the mamra almond trees grow in a landscape shaped by altitude, cold winters and clear mountain light.

As the harvest season approaches with the monsoon, the green outer hulls naturally split open, revealing the hard, woody shell within. These almonds are gathered and allowed to mature through a patient drying process. Once harvested, the shelled almonds are placed in our solar shed, where they are gently dried over nearly three weeks — allowing the moisture to leave gradually, without rushing the process through heated mechanical dryers.

Commercial mills often accelerate this stage using heated drying panels so that extraction can begin within a much shorter period. While this saves time, we believe an ingredient as delicate as the mamra almond deserves a gentler passage from harvest to oil.

So, we choose நிதானம் (Nidhanam) — the virtue of steadiness, patience and allowing a process to take the time it naturally requires.

After the extended drying period, the almonds are brought to our 25 kg traditional stone mill. Here, a traditional vaigai wood, driven by our humanely raised Kangeyam bulls, gradually works upon the firm, woody almonds at just two rotations per minute (moving just twice the circumference of the stone mill, per minute). For two hours, the almonds are slowly crushed and worked between the stone and wood, and the measured 2 RPM pace is intended to minimize unnecessary friction and excessive heat — allowing the natural character of the almond to remain present with Vitamin E and micronutrients, as its oil is gradually released.

What emerges is a naturally rich, stone-pressed, almond baby oil — born from Himalayan almonds, shaped by patience, and extracted through a method that places tradition before speed. A practice inherited from generations before us, carried forward with deliberate care, so that the nourishment of the almond reaches you with as little interference as possible.

Signature Aroma

Delicate, mildly sweet, and distinctly nutty — a soft aroma that appears briefly before settling, reminiscent of the subtle fragrance of freshly opened almonds.

Our bull-driven almond oil retains this understated character without added fragrance. Its naturally gentle aroma is intentionally kept close to the original almond, rather than being masked by strong perfumes or the heated, toasted notes that can develop during high-speed mechanical processing.

Light in character and naturally rich in Vitamin E, it makes a gentle choice for traditional baby massage and everyday body and hair care.

How To Use Them

For Newborns Infants

Take a small quantity of almond oil and warm it gently between your palms. It should feel comfortably warm, never hot.

Apply using soft, slow movements and very light pressure. Massage the arms, legs, back and body gently, while avoiding the eyes, nose, mouth, broken or irritated skin and any unhealed umbilical cord stump.

A short session of around 10–20 minutes may be incorporated into a consistent routine, often before bathing or at a calm time of day.

For newborn infants, the gentleness of the touch is more important than the quantity of oil used.

For Adults

Take the desired quantity of almond oil and apply directly to the hair, scalp or body according to your preferred oiling or massage practice.

For use with essential oils, combine the required number of drops according to the recommended dilution for the intended hair or skin application. Mix thoroughly before use.

Note

Always perform a patch test before wider application.

Newborn massage should be performed with gentle pressure and never over broken, inflamed or irritated skin. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose and mouth.

For premature, low-birth-weight or medically fragile babies, or where there is an existing skin concern, consult a paediatrician before beginning an oil-massage routine.

Testing Document

Every traditional bull-driven oil produced at our Sangha farm undergoes testing at CSIR–National Food Technology Research Institute (CSIR-NFTRI), a government research institution, for checks including mineral oil (paraffin), added fragrance, and adulteration.

Because a traditional practice deserves more than trust alone — it deserves transparency. We preserve the method of our ancestors while allowing the finished oil to be examined through the standards of modern science.

From Our Hands

The journey of our almond oil begins far from the stone mill — among the Himalayan orchards where the mamra almond matures.

From harvest, the almonds are given time to naturally dry. They then travel through the hands of our Sangha farm before reaching the traditional stone mill, where the slow movement of vaigai wood and the steady strength of our Kangeyam bulls gradually release the oil.

This is our Nidhanam — choosing patience over haste, and allowing each stage to unfold at its own pace.

And within that patience lives our இயற்கை (Iyarkai) essence.

From the Himalayan almond to the final turn of the stone mill, we preserve not merely an extraction technique, but a relationship with the way our ancestors worked — slowly, deliberately and with respect for the material in their hands.

Today, we carry that tradition forward through our stone-pressed, bull-driven almond oil — thoughtfully made at our Sangha farm and offered to you in its pristine, natural character.
