Origins

Here, in the alpine hills of the Himalayas, lavender is known and beloved by its native name — हिमालय लवांडुला (Himalay Lavandula). We have been cultivating it in our Sangha farms at an altitude of 5,000 to 6,000 feet, amidst cold, beautiful alpine meadows, clear mountain streams, and the deep quiet of the deodar forests.

When the forest department first brought its seeds to our community, they received lavender not merely as a crop, but as a rare and wondrous plant, much like the many others that grow upon these mountains. The flower buds, infused in almond oil, were used for daily skin massage — not as a luxury treatment, but as a simple, faithful act of nourishment. When a full night of sleep was difficult to find, they placed the dried flowers beneath their pillows. When the harsh Himalayan summer brought redness or small skin irritations to the face, the flowers were crushed into a paste and gently applied to soothe them. Its dried flowers also sat in jars throughout the living rooms — not as decoration, but because they knew what they brought to the ambience of their homes, and to the quiet quality of those moments spent simply breathing in the air.

The step towards traditionally distilling it came naturally from this close intimacy with lavender, which had become part of our Sangha's daily rituals. Our Sangha wanted to carry this quietness further, into a form that others could pour into their soaps, their candles, their hair oils, and their bath salts — so that the tranquility of these alpine meadows might find its way into the homes of those who have never stood among them, feeling the mountain breeze move gently through our fields of lavender.

And even today, we distill it through our own traditional craft — with the same unhurried fire, drop by drop, deep within the cedar forests of the हिमालय (Himalay).

Signature Aroma

The first breath is soft and purely floral — unhurried, opening the way mountain air opens after rain. Underneath the bloom, a cool herbal green grounds the fragrance, carrying the memory of the alpine field it was drawn from. And at the very edge, barely perceptible, lives a faint sweetness — delicate and warm.

This is what makes lavender both calming and centering at once. It does not brighten a space — it instills an unmatched stillness and leaves behind an atmosphere that feels balanced, unhurried, and deeply at ease. It is the reason why it is found in places where the presence is intended: mountain retreats, meditation rooms, wellness spas, luxury studios and tea gardens, where people, after a visit, often find themselves saying simply: something shifted within me.

Testing Document

Every batch of our lavender essential oil is sent to CSIR-CIMAP, Hyderabad, for Gas Chromatography testing.

Every plant compound is identified and measured. Every batch is confirmed for purity and found to be free of adulteration.

The complete GC report is published openly within the product catalogue — because an oil made honestly deserves to be verified the same way.

From Our Hands

You hold the हिमालय लवांडुला (Himalay Lavandula) that was carried down the mountain on someone's back, and drawn from the traditional still by a fire, which our community has been lighting for generations.

Seeds go into the earth in February. By June, three months of growing through the mountain spring, the lavender is ready — stalks upright, flower buds just opening, carrying all the season's fragrance within them. Our sangha harvests them in the alpine fields, cutting each stalk just 5–6 inches above the sapling's base, leaving enough for the plant to recover and grow back to her full height for the second harvest in November, just before the first snowfall seals the hillside into a long winter rest.

The freshly cut flower buds are loaded into wicker baskets and carried on the back, down the mountain path from the hilltop fields to our 500 kg distillation still — a walk of twenty to thirty minutes through the deodar forest. And when the buds arrive, they are packed into the still immediately, while they're still fresh and alive with fragrance.
Water is added. The furnace is lit with wood. For three hours, steam rises slowly through 500–600 kg of lavender biomass, coaxing the essential oil from within the plant's very cells. The vapour rises, condenses, and the oil — pure and clear — separates gently on the surface of the receiver.

From 500 to 600 kilograms of fresh lavender flower buds, only 4 to 5 liters of oil are obtained.

The हिमालय लवांडुला (Himalay Lavandula) is then carefully collected by our sangha and stored in aluminium cans in the cool, dry shade of our farm storage sheds — until it reaches you, pure and untouched.
