Our elders were among the first to look beyond the timber and firewood, and crushed the leaves to understand what they carried. The leaves were made into a paste and pressed against the chest during fever. During the heavy monsoon rains, the crushed paste of the grass was mixed into the cow-dung floors of their \u003cstrong\u003eകുടിൽ\u003c\/strong\u003e (mud homes) to keep insects away.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt was during these daily rituals with the boiling cauldrons that they noticed something unusual: when the simmering lemongrass water met the cold mountain air, a thin oily layer would rise gently to the surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDriven by that innate curiosity, their ancestors — \u003cstrong\u003eപൂർവികർ\u003c\/strong\u003e — hand-forged a primitive iron distillation still, working entirely from intuition, without a single blueprint.
